Workshops
« Artworks for Solidarity »

From Thursday, November 14th to Tuesday, December 3rd

GALLERIA CONTINUA, CENTRE POMPIDOU & 19|46, A SPACE FOR CULTURAL AND SOCIAL COMMITMENT BY LES PETITS FRÈRES DES PAUVRES

In 2024, 5 new workshops, led by 3 artists, will bring together over 200 participants, including high school students, primary school children, refugees and elders.

Over the last 5 years, Thanks for Nothing has been organizing co-creation workshops for audiences with limited access to culture. These workshops have already brought together more than 500 beneficiaries to create collaborative artworks conceived by contemporary artists.

The “Artworks for Solidarity” workshops brought together young schoolchildren—from kindergarten to university students—and beneficiaries of non-profit organizations supporting groups such as refugees, women affected by domestic violence, and the elderly who are isolated.

This year, the “Artworks for Solidarity” workshops return in collaboration with the Foundation and the Association des Petits Frères des Pauvres. The goal of this new program is to alleviate social and psychological isolation among the elderly while strengthening intergenerational connections.

Program for the 5 workshops

> 2 workshops with Susana Pilar

Thursday, November 14th, from 1.30pm to 5 pm
GALLERIA CONTINUA aux Moulins, Boissy-le-Châtel (Seine et Marne)

Thanks for Nothing is engaging over 100 participants in this workshop:
– More than 50 young people from 2 classes at Lycée Jean Vilar in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne, Académie de Créteil)
– Over 50 elder residents from 4 senior homes in the area

With the help of schoolchildren and senior citizens, Susana Pilar conceives 2 workshops that bring 2 generations together. The elders teach, the youth learns, and vice versa. Everyone has fun, and the result is delicious.
Susana Pilar is represented by Galleria Continua.

> 2 workshops with Giulia Andreani

Friday, November 29th, from noon to 4 pm
Centre Pompidou, Salle Triangle

Thanks for Nothing is inviting over 50 participants in this workshop:
– 25 1st grade children from a class at Victor Hugo school in Les Lilas (Seine-Saint-Denis, Académie de Créteil)
– More than 25 elders supported by the Petits Frères des Pauvres

Giulia Andreani organizes an intergenerational workshop on the theme of History.
Through the creation of a collaborative fresco, participants explore intergenerational transmission, linking personal stories and collective memories.
Giulia Andreani is represented by Galerie Max Hetzler.

> A workshop with Chourouk Hriech

Tuesday, December 3rd, from 3.30pm to 6 pm
At 19|46, Petits Frères des Pauvres’ space

Thanks for Nothing invites over 50 participants in this workshop:
– 25 young refugees, aged 16 to 22, supported by the Salvation Army
– 25 elders supported by the Petits Frères des Pauvres

Chourouk Hriech leads a workshop exploring the notion of shared territories, bringing together refugee minors and isolated elders. Together, they interpret the connections between human history and the environment, creating landscape drawings. These drawings will then be reinterpreted by the artist to create a permanent mural at 19|46, a space for cultural and social commitment by Les Petits Frères des Pauvres.
Chourouk Hriech is represented by Galerie Anne-Sarah Benichou.
